Aroma: Phenolic yeast nose up front with roasted barley notes filling the nose. Alcohol aroma is also present in the aroma which I expect from Hair of the Dog and from a Barley Wine. Earthy hop bitterness joins into this complex aromatic ale.

Appearance: Deep brown to thick amber with a thick yeast haze, though not opaque. Full head forms and holds an off white head throuhout.

Flavor: Insatiably rich flavor of grainy malt with an alcoholic warmth to follow. The warming effect flows into the sticky finish with an earthy bitterness in the end.

Mouthfeel: Full body with a pleasing almost coarse grainyness on the tongue. Medium carbonation with a creamy preseance throughout the mouth. Alcoholic warmth almost stings the mouth and throat in the finish, but it finishes surprisingly clean considering the malt complexities of this ale.

Overall: An incredibly rich and balanced Barleywine Style ale from H.O.D. The rich malt character of this beer is unmatched in barley wines I've had thus far.
